– What does pastiche mean?
/pas•tiche/: an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist, or period.
Historically countless great and notable works originated from Black culture and artists. Pastiche is any artwork that highlights and pays homage to the original artists while not stealing directly from them. While this Black cinema series simply serves as a place to experience these great original works, we titled the series pastiche as a reminder to always celebrate black art/ists.
